Premier has also ordered the dispatch of additional consignments of food, tents and medicines to the worst-hit areas under the federal relief package. "Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is personally monitoring the relief operations of the National Disaster Management Authority in all flood-affected districts," the report said.
Officials said trucks carrying supplies are being handed over to district administrations for onward distribution. Shehbaz directed the chairman of NDMA to remain in constant contact with provincial disaster management authorities and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure a coordinated response.
According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least 323 people have died and 156 have been injured in rain-related incidents and flash floods across K-P.
The dead include 273 men, 29 women and 21 children. Among the injured are 123 men, 23 women and 10 children. PDMA said a total of 336 houses have been damaged so far, with 230 partially destroyed and 106 completely demolished.
Buner remains the worst-hit district, where 209 deaths have been reported. Other districts affected include Swat, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla and Battagram. The authority warned that more heavy rainfall is expected between August 17 and 19, while the current spell is likely to continue intermittently until August 21.
On the directives of the K-P chief minister, 89 trucks carrying relief goods have been dispatched to the affected districts. Items include tents, mattresses, bedding, kitchen sets, tarpaulins, mats, mosquito nets, generators and other daily-use essentials.
PDMA added that 800 million rupees have been released to district administrations as relief funds, including 500 million rupees specifically allocated to Buner. District authorities have been instructed to speed up relief activities and provide immediate assistance to the victims.
PDMA’s emergency operations centre is fully functional. Citizens have been advised to contact the free helpline 1700 for weather updates, information or to report emergencies, the spokesperson said.

Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, said on Sunday that efforts were under way to restore connectivity in flood-hit areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where roads and bridges have been badly damaged.
Speaking at a media briefing in Islamabad, he said, “As per the directives of the Prime Minister, a relief consignment will be immediately dispatched to all districts that have experienced significant loss of life and where people have been dislocated from their homes.”
The packages will include rations, medicines, and tents for the displaced. Malik said the seventh spell of monsoon rains, currently affecting various regions, is expected to continue until August 22. Another weather system will enter Pakistan on August 23 and last until the end of the month, with rains likely to persist into the first 10 days of September.
“Day-to-day communication infrastructure, roads, and bridges will be repaired on a priority basis once the monsoon is over,” he added.
Earlier, NDMA officials said the authority had developed a detailed contingency plan identifying high-risk areas. Northeastern parts of the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, central K-P, and southeastern districts such as Tharparkar, Sujawal, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Badin, are expected to receive the heaviest rainfall.
Officials warned that three major weather systems are converging over Pakistan, intensifying the ongoing monsoon activity. More than 300 people have already died due to flash floods and landslides in K-P.
The most vulnerable regions include northern Pakistan, northeastern Punjab, the Salt Range, southern Punjab, Malakand and Hazara divisions of K-P, and central Balochistan.

PESHAWAR:
Rescuers in flood-ravaged Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) districts clawed through mud and debris on Saturday as flash floods unleashed by days of heavy monsoon rains killed at least 344 people in the province within 48 hours, officials said.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed that 324 of the deaths were reported in K-P, with dozens more killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. At least 137 people were injured as homes collapsed and torrents of water swept away residents, livestock and vehicles.
Officials said the scale of the devastation forced the provincial government to declare six districts — Buner, Bajaur, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra and Battagram — disaster-hit. Thousands of homes were destroyed and key roads, including bridges and link routes, were washed away, complicating rescue and relief operations.
"Heavy rainfall, landslides and washed-out roads are severely hampering rescue efforts, particularly the transportation of heavy machinery and ambulances," said Bilal Ahmed Faizi, spokesman for K-P's rescue agency.
"In some areas, workers are forced to walk long distances to reach disaster sites," he said. "They are trying to evacuate survivors, but very few people are relocating due to the deaths of their relatives or loved ones being trapped in the debris."
Buner's district deputy commissioner Kashif Qayum Khan also said rescuers were forced to find new ways to reach remote areas. "Many more people may still be trapped under the debris, which local residents cannot clear manually," Khan told AFP.
Nearly 2,000 rescue personnel have been deployed, but officials warned that many victims may still be trapped under rubble in remote villages.
In Shangla district alone, officials confirmed 37 deaths, with several people still missing. Torrential floods, lightning strikes and landslides left hundreds injured, flattened houses and displaced entire communities.
Eleven more people were killed in AJK, and another nine in G-B, officials said. Five more were killed when a local government helicopter crashed due to bad weather during a relief mission in Bajaur district on Friday.
The meteorological department has also issued a heavy rain alert for northwestern regions, urging people to take "precautionary measures".
Syed Muhammad Tayyab Shah of NDMA told AFP that this year's monsoon season began earlier than usual and was expected to end later. It would also increase in intensity over the next fortnight, he added.
In Buner, an AFP journalist saw three excavators clearing mud and wood from the completely flattened site, while dozens of rescuers and residents also dug through the debris.
Others cleared heavy rocks with their hands and with shovels. "People are still lying under the debris... Those who were swept away are being searched for downstream," said resident Abdul Khan.
Floodwaters also destroyed livestock, shops and vehicles, while key roads including AlpuriBisham, AlpuriPuran and AlpuriChakesar were badly damaged. Though some were temporarily reopened on Saturday, access to remote areas remains cut off.
Residents told of funerals being held in devastated villages, where survivors continue to search through rubble by hand. "I helped retrieve the bodies of children I taught," said Saifullah Khan, a schoolteacher in Buner. "The trauma is unbearable."
Another villager in Buner told AFP residents kept on searching through the rubble overnight.
"The entire area is reeling from profound trauma," said 32-year-old schoolteacher Saifullah Khan. "I help retrieve the bodies of the children I taught, I keep wondering what kind of trial nature has imposed on these kids," he said.
The NDMA said torrential monsoon rains across Pakistan have killed more than 650 people so far this season, with 905 injured. The agency warned that the downpours, which began earlier than usual this year, are expected to continue with greater intensity over the next fortnight.
Monsoon floods in South Asia bring much of the region's annual rainfall, vital for agriculture but devastating when extreme. Pakistan, among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, has faced increasingly frequent and intense weather events. In 2022, floods submerged a third of the country and killed around 1,700 people.
Provincial authorities said relief operations are under way, with heavy equipment being moved to clear roads and restore connectivity. The PDMA chairman visited Shangla on Saturday, urging officials to accelerate aid and rehabilitation.
The K-P chief minister is expected to visit flood-stricken areas on Sunday to review damage and announce further measures.
The torrential rains that have pounded Pakistan since the start of the summer monsoon, described as "unusual" by authorities, have killed more than 650 people, with more than 905 injured.
In July, Punjab recorded 73 per cent more rainfall than the previous year and more deaths than in the entire previous monsoon.
Pakistan is one of the world's most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change and is contending with extreme weather events with increasing frequency. Monsoon floods in 2022 submerged a third of the country and killed around 1,700 people.

According to security sources, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed that the Army would provide full support for the rehabilitation of flood victims, with additional troops being deployed to reinforce relief activities.
Alongside salaries, the Army has allocated one day’s rations — amounting to more than 600 tons — for distribution among flood-hit families.
Helicopter crash
During the relief operation, KP government’s MI-17 helicopter, carrying relief supplies to Salarzai in Bajaur, crashed. All five crew members on board embraced martyrdom in the accident.
Rescue operations are ongoing in the disaster-hit areas, with PDMA teams, local authorities, and volunteers engaged in relief efforts.
The PDMA has warned that the spell of heavy rains is likely to continue intermittently until August 21, potentially aggravating the flood situation in vulnerable districts.

Survivors have urged the government to speed up rescue activities and arrange immediate shelter for those left homeless.
In Mansehra, lightning and a cloudburst also triggered flooding, with reports of further casualties and property losses.
Meanwhile, in Swat’s Mingora, Malam Jabba, Haji Baba, Khwazakhela, and Marghazar, low-lying areas have been submerged, flooding hundreds of homes and cutting off access to several localities.
Many residents, including women and children, have taken refuge on rooftops, while in some areas people are evacuating on their own due to the worsening situation.

PESHAWAR: More than 150 people are missing in northwest Pakistan, the head of the provincial disaster management authority said Sunday, after flash floods that have killed at least 344 people in the country.
Thousands of rescuers were battling rain and knee-deep mud, digging homes out from under massive boulders in a desperate search for survivors.
“In Buner, at least 150 people are still missing. They could be trapped under the rubble of their homes or swept away by floodwaters,” Asfandyar Khattak, head of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority, told AFP.
“Separately, in Shangla district, dozens of people are also reported missing,” he added.
The ongoing rain was making rescue operations extremely difficult, Khattak said.
“There is no electricity or mobile signal in Buner, as power lines and mobile towers were damaged in the flash floods,” he added.
In hardest-hit Buner district, at least 208 people were killed and “10 to 12 entire villages” partially buried, a provincial rescue spokesman told AFP.
“The operation to rescue people trapped under debris is ongoing,” said Bilal Ahmed Faizi of the province’s rescue agency.
He said around 2,000 rescue workers were engaged in recovering bodies from the debris and carrying out relief operations across nine districts, where rain was still hampering efforts.

标题:Flash floods ruin infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan

GILGIT: Flash floods continued to wreak havoc across Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday, leaving one person dead, eight injured, and dozens displaced. Roads and bridges were swept away, thousands — including tourists — remained stranded at multiple locations, and electricity, mobile, and internet communication were disrupted in the region.
Cloudburst-triggered flash floods hit multiple areas, adding to the misery of local communities.
According to the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), a nine-year-old boy, Zulqarnain Haider, tragically lost his life in a landslide while returning from the summer pasture to his village, Hanochal in Haramosh Valley of Gilgit, on Saturday.
Addressing a press briefing, GB Home Minister Shams Lone said that the Baltistan Highway bridge had been swept away, cutting off four districts of Baltistan from Gilgit for a second consecutive day.
Cloudburst-triggered floods leave 9-year-old boy dead in Haramosh Valley; portion of Naltar Highway and Baltistan Highway bridge swept away
Since Friday, at least 35 people have lost their lives, many more have been injured, and four people remain missing. “So far, 318 houses have been completely destroyed, and 674 have been partially damaged,” Lone said, adding that the GB government lacked the resources to cope with the massive devastation. However, he noted that army troops were conducting relief operations.
A portion of the Naltar Highway was swept away, leaving a large number of tourists stranded. The flash floods in Naltar also damaged three hydropower generation stations, suspending electricity supply to Gilgit. Residents are also facing a shortage of drinking water.
In Datuchi, Bagrot Valley, a bridge and nearly half a dozen houses were damaged, while in Ghanche district, flash floods destroyed three key bridges, cutting off several villages. Dozens of houses were damaged, and 67 families in Haldi village were shifted to tents.
River erosion in the Guru Jaglot area of Gilgit damaged several homes, with floodwaters entering many houses. In Haton village, flash floods destroyed three homes, private infrastructure, crops, and agricultural land. Thousands of residents in Ghizer district also remained cut off from other areas.
The Karakoram Highway (KKH) at Gulmit has remained closed for several days, disconnecting residents of Gojal and severing the Pakistan-China road link.
NDMA issues alert
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of possible glacier lake outburst floods (GLOFs), heavy rain, and landslides in the northern areas until September 7.
The NDMA also advised tourists to avoid travelling to affected regions and not to cross rivers or streams.
GB has been experiencing an unusual heatwave since June, resulting in unprecedented glacier melting. Temperatures have risen by 48pc above normal, which has been the main cause of the recent disaster.
