Announcement of the 3rd International Symposium on Perception, Cognition, and Prediction of Geological Disasters
2025-04-18

Geohazards pose a significant threat to human lives and cause substantial economic andfinancial damage annually. The monitoring, analysis, and prediction of these hazards arecrucial for effective disaster prevention and mitigation. The 2nd International Symposium on Geo-Hazards Perception, Cognition andPrediction (ISGHPCP), has already been held from October 25-28, 2024, in Changsha, China.

Hosted by Central South University (CSU) and organized by the School of Geosciences andInfo-Physics in conjunction with the Laboratory of Geo-Hazards Perception, Cognition, andPrediction, this symposium will serve as a premier forum for experts, scholars, and researchersto exchange ideas and discuss recent advancements in geo-hazard studies, and will facilitatethe serving of Remote Sensing and Geo-information for the natural disaster preparation.reduction and emergency response in the world including the Belt-and-Road countries.

The ISGHPCP aims to bring together a diverse group of international participants, includingresearchers, practitioners, policymakers, and PhD students, to explore cutting-edgedevelopments in understanding and predicting geo-hazards. The event will highlightinterdisciplinary approaches that integrate earth sciences, artificial intelligence, and datascience to enhance our capacity to perceive, comprehend, and forecast geological andenvironmental risks.

Geohazards continue to pose significant threats to human lives and infrastructure worldwide. The 3rd International Symposium on Geo-Hazards Perception, Cognition and Prediction (ISGHPCP 2026) will be held from April  2026, in Changsha, China. Building on the success of previous editions, this symposium aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students to address emerging challenges in geo-hazards monitoring, prediction, and mitigation.
