According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, at 09:05 on January 7, 2025, an M6.8 earthquake occurred in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region. The focal depth was 10 kilometers, and the epicenter was located at 28.50 degrees north latitude and 87.45 degrees east longitude. On January 9, the joint scientific research team of Central South University and the National Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, relying on the strategic scientific and technological innovation cooperation project "Research, Development and Application Demonstration of Satellite Emergency Technology System for Typical Major Natural Disasters" launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2024, used the images of the domestic Gaofen-2 satellite to analyze the damaged buildings in the disaster areas around the epicenter in Dingri County. And they successfully mapped the distribution map of damaged buildings in the earthquake-stricken area. According to the drawn distribution map of damaged buildings in the earthquake in Dingri County, Tibet, it can be seen that the buildings in the epicenter area and the surrounding towns and villages generally suffered varying degrees of damage, showing the wide range of the earthquake's impact and the unevenness of its destructive power. Specifically, in the Tangren Village area south of the epicenter and the Cuoguo Township area located in the southeast direction, the damage to buildings was particularly severe, and the degree of damage was much higher than that in the area north of the epicenter, indicating the characteristic that the seismic energy was released more concentrated in a specific direction. In addition, in the area about 7.7 kilometers northwest of the epicenter, there was also damage to buildings in Mudui Village. The damage to buildings in Mudui Village shows that the destructive power of the earthquake is not limited to the vicinity of the epicenter, but can spread within a certain range and cause varying degrees of damage to the surrounding areas.
